Buying a fixer-upper can be daunting, but it would seem that you can not only make massive savings when you buy a property but you can also make a very tidy profit indeed when it comes time to sell.
Figures from Confused.com show that 19 per cent of people who have bought a renovation project were able to turn a profit of between £25,000 and £50,000 after successfully doing it up – so bear this in mind when thinking about having Cheshire orangeries installed at home.
The study also found that of those homeowners who did buy a property in need of work, they managed to save themselves £44,371 on average as well.
The most common parts of a house in need of renovation were found to be the kitchen, the carpets, the bathroom and cosmetic decoration.
“As house prices seem to be continuing to rise, it would appear that more and more people are resorting to buying properties that need renovation,” head of home insurance at Confused.com Gareth Lane said.
